Snips not reacting

#1

Hi all,

Im trying to set up Snips to work with Home Assistant but get stuck befor getting so far.

I installed snips on my rPi with raspian. I also isntaled sam (on the same pI). After that i installed the demo assistant and tested my mic/speaker with “sam test microphone”.

Sam status gives me:

Connected to device 192.168.2.180

OS version ................... Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)
Installed assistant .......... SnipsDemoWeatherAssistant
Language ..................... en
Hotword ...................... hey_snips
ASR engine ................... snips
Status ....................... Live

Service status:

snips-analytics .............. 0.60.10 (not running)
snips-asr .................... 0.60.10 (not running)
snips-audio-server ........... 0.60.10 (running)
snips-dialogue ............... 0.60.10 (not running)
snips-hotword ................ 0.60.10 (not running)
snips-nlu .................... 0.60.10 (not running)
snips-skill-server ........... 0.60.10 (running)
snips-tts .................... 0.60.10 (not running)

So i try to say “Hey snipes” but nothing happens. So what could I have done wrong?
Best Dennis

Did you try to reboot the pi?

If so, you should probably investigate why so many modules are “not running”. E.g., when snips-hotword isn’t running, there won’t be any hotword detection!

You can try to start any module, e.g. snips-hotword via ssh on the pi. Ideally with something like “snips-hotword -v” (or even -vvv for more output information, but error should be visible on log-level -v or -vv)

Hi,
yes i rebooted a couple of times. But for whatever reason now it works.

One more think. I would like to use sam watch to see whats happening, but im getting the following error:

pi@SnipsMaster:~ $ sam watch
bash: snips-watch: command not found

#4

execute this :

sudo systemctl apt-get install snips-watch

But it’s strange, your result it’s like there is no assistant installed.

Can you try to create an assistant with default app ? (like hour)

EDIT : or retry to install the demo assistant (I never did it so…)
